Multifunctional Commerce and Trade Park

The Kaohsiung Multi-Functional Commerce & Trade Park is located on the East side of Kaohsiung Harbor. The Park's business is integrated with Ling-Ya commercial zone, which is the major commercial activity zone of Kaohsiung City, and the zone neighbors Ling-Hai Export Processing Zone and Kaohsiung Harbor's Container Center. The Park is not merely the most important industrial development zone, it is also one of the future metropolitan development plans.

Dominant Geography-Scope

The geographic scope of the Multifunctional Commerce and Trade Park is within the confines of the east of Gushan 1st Road and Binhai 1st Road , the south of Wufu Road and Gongyuan Road, the north of Pier 2~4 of the Port of Kaohsiung to Cianjhen River and Kaisyuan Road , and the east of Yisin Road.


Dominant Transportation

KaohsiungCity has a large and deep international harbor equipped with storage and transportation equipment, as well as a busy KaohsiungInternationalAirport. With land, sea and air transportextending from east to west and all directions, KaohsiungCity is the transportation hub of southern Taiwan.

Land Transportation – Highway

Multifunctional Commerce and TradePark is adjacent to the Port of Kaohsiug within the scope of the development area. The transportation system planned in KaohsiungCity including highway and railway system is to go through this Park with convenient transportation that takes only ten minutes to get to KaohsiungInternationalAirport and five minutes to get to the Port of Kaohsiung or the Freeway; it’s also, sixty minutes to get to TainanSciencePark. The National Highway No. 1 is 373-kilometer long from KeelungCity to the intersection of Jhongshan Road and Yugang Road in KaohsiungCity and then enters the Port of Kaohsiung from Yugang Road.


Railway

The Trunk Line of Taiwan Railway is the main transportation system in the area and an even more convenient transportation network is expected upon completion of the underground railway, mass rapid transit systems, and Taiwan High Speed Rail.

Upon completion of Taiwan High Speed Rail that is to serve the passengers with a long journey on the west coastline, Taiwan Railway will be transformed to serve passengers with a mid- or short journey, island tourists, and cargo freight, in which, railway cargo is to support the railway network within the Port of Kaohsiung and the marine transportation and trucks for an inland compound transportation network in order to reduce inland freight cost and upgrade inland freight efficiency.


Marine transportation

The Port of Kaohsiung is on the west of the Multifunctional Commerce and TradePark, which is the largest commerce port in Taiwan and the sixth largest container terminal in the world with shipping lanes available to every corner of the world. The Port of Kaohsiung is in excellent condition and is well-equipped with facilities. The harbor water is 16m deep and Port 1 and Port 2 are designed for the use of 30,000-ton and 100,000-ton boats with an 18-kilometer long passageway; moreover, the 116 piers are for use of 153 boats simultaneously with a throughput of 100,000,000 tons. The throughput of the Port of Kaohsiung is the fourth largest in the world next only to Hong Kong, Singapore, and Rotterdam, with an annual capacity of 10 million twenty-foot equivalent units(TEU). The port of Kaohsiunghas the shortest average sailing time of 53 hours among the top six Asia-Pacific harbors (Singapore, Tokyo, Shanghai, Manila, and Hong Kong); therefore, the Port of Kaohsiung is the ideal location as the Asia-PacificRegionalOperationsCenter, freight transportation base, and global hub.


Airfreight

Multifunctional Commerce and TradePark is 6-kilometers away from Kaohsiung International Airport, which is the only airport designed for domestic and international flights. The dominant geography, the excellent marine transportation and airfreight service, and average 3-hours flying time to major Asian cities (Singapore, Tokyo, Shanghai, Soul, and Hong Kong); also, the direct flights to twelve cities including Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong; moreover, the connecting flights to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and then to the world have made Kaohsiung International Airport a very competitive airport in providing a convenient transportation service worldwide.
